使用Gentoo越久，我越来越意识到真正推动我们创新的是个体开发者。这些创新并不是因为委员会的会议决策，而是因为这些开发者，或是他们中的部分人认为这是一个好想法，所以就实现了它们。

1, Porthole是Portage的一个图形前端，基于gtk+的树状浏览器。
2，随着对Gentoo投入时间的增长，我愈发觉得是个别开发者驱使了大多革新。委员会的决策没有如此效果。之所以发生在个别开发者身上，是因为他（们）认为那是一个不错的注意，并且去实现它。

我是做嵌入式开发的。熟悉C，makefile等。SCM用过svn，mercurial（之前的新项目本打算选git，可......）。bash吗？还好。xml，不熟悉。英语水平，一般般。平时接触的资料基本全是英文，但从不把它翻译成中文。因没那个精力，也没那个能力。中文水平，也是一般般。但本人还是愿意为open source做点贡献。

真佩服每个月翻译GWN的人，thanks。我试图翻译了一下，真的很费时间。看得懂，和变成母语表达出来，真的是两回事情。

现在我自己都很难想象当时还是Weekly Newsletter的时候，我们是怎么一期一期的赶出来的
