IBM is expected to announce later today that a version of its Lotus Notes software has been developed for the Linux operating system.

The software is based on Eclipse open source technology and will be available as a free download for current Notes users.

IBM said that Lotus Notes on Linux 7.0.1 is due to be released at the same time as the next major update for the software, but that demand had convinced the company to release the application early.

The Linux version will be available on 24 July, while the next major Lotus Notes update will not ship until next year.

The move had been expected for some time as IBM's Domino messaging platform has been available in a Linux format since 1998.

The collaboration software will initially work with Red Hat's Enterprise Linux 4, and IBM expects to release a version that integrates with Novell's SuSE Linux in the next three months.

真的吗？多年以来，用 wine 跑 Notes client 多麽吃力不讨好，若 IBM 真的推出 Linux 版的 client，从此以後便不用再饱受兼容性困扰了

IBM的网站已经有了，7月24日公布。版本号7.0.1
我想应该是FREE的吧。

现在的WINDOWS版本的NOTES CLIENT都是在IBM网站FREE下载的啊。
不会就linux版本要MONEY吧？

有點不解，好像是說 Notes 的 licensees (負費用戶)而且又是經常繳負維護費的用戶可以免費獲得軟件

实际上SERVER是收费的。CLIENT一直是可以免费下载和使用的。
