gnome/gnome-light masked?

Can not emerge gnome-light or gnome.
One of the following masked package is required to complete your request:
-gnome-base/control-center-2.20.1 (masked by: required EAPI -1, supported EAPI 0).
-gnome-base/control-center-2.20.1-r1 (masked by: required EAPI -1, supported EAPI 0))
What is the problem and how to fix it?

Can not use emerge --sync.
I used emerge-webrsync before, but it was so slow.
I just press "Ctrl+c" to cancel the program at that time.
But now, I can not use emerge-webrsync any more.

your problem is caused by your ancient portage(package manager, not tree)
old portage doesn't support EAPI-1, you should upgrade your portage
you should be able to use either emerge --sync or emerge-webrsync, theoretically you should be at least able to use webrsync since no firewall would ever dare to ban 80 port. if webrsync is too slow for you, you should find a faster mirror or try a new ISP.

or you can try to manually download portage-latest.tar.bz2 from snapshots dir on any gentoo mirrors. like this one:
http://gentoo.osuosl.org/snapshots/portage-latest.tar.bz2

我估计楼主的意思是，20071222是他用emerge-websync直接下载的portage tree更新包的日期版本号，而不是portage本身的版本号。
而楼主估计是误解了版主的意思。
