proftp奇怪的问题

我在redhat 9的系统上装了proftp，把以前的vsftpd停掉了，不管我怎么修改系统账号的密码，用ftp登陆都会提示密码错误，但是我的密码没错呀，请问这是什么问题？

默认不支持root登陆
