Hi dude, thx for help! I've tried, but the problem persisted. It didn't get
The system I've been using isn't slackware but lfs5.0. I had the file sendmail.mc
modified exactly according to what you've instructed me, and then ran m4 to
macro-compile it, however the resulting configuration file sendmail.cf was only
of 2-line length; apparently something had went wrong here, and it did in fact
as sendmail wasn't able to boot. I did a bit of googling about this, and found
that's because of the failure to pre-load cf.m4, so I changed the command to the
form of "m4 m4/cf.m4 sendmail.mc > sendmail.cf", and this time things seemed to
be all right, sendmail got started properly as well. I sent an email to sina for
a try - unfortunately nothing responded, then another to yahoo account which
worked correctly with the original configuration of sendmail - got nothing
either; what's even worse was that I couldn't receive emails using fetchmail
which, in theory, should have had nothing to do with sendmail because it's only
responsible for email-retrieving as far as I know. Just can't figure it out,
weird! -_-# As a result I had no choice but to restore the backup of
sendmail.cf, and return back to the former state. Perhaps the only way to solve
this problem is to refer to the manual on one's own, though it's soooooooooo
long - more than 4,000 lines. I think I'd better put it aside for a while,
leaving this "puzzle" to others. ^_^ Anyhow __thank you__ very much once again
for your help, any suggestion likely to find a solution to this problem is
appreciated!
