请问为什么ｐｏｐ３的端口无法打开

我用的rd9，用sendmail做邮件服务器，现在smtp服务已经打开，但是pop3的服务怎么也启动不了，我在gnome窗口里看pop3的服务，它提示
P3 service allows remote users to access their mail using an POP3 client such as Netscape Communicator, mutt, or fetchmail.

You must enable xinetd to use this service.

我的xinetd里就没有改什么东西呀，请问这个是什么原因，谢谢
