My computer Network Card (NC) is RTL8111B, ADSL is HA500.
First, setup up NC in Suse10.1 YAST, select DHCP to get all IP address automatically. In NC select list, can not find RTL8111B, so skipped the selection ( also tried RTL8139 ). Restart computer after all. Ping 192.168.1.1 failure, so continue to setup DSL modem. Select protocol PPP over Ethernet. From the list of ADSL manufacture and device number, can not find proper choice, so tried many choices. After DSL modem setup, I try to dial-up to internet but failed, checked log file I found following failure message.
SuSE Meta pppd (smpppd-ifcfg), Version 1.59 on home.
Status is: disconnected
trying to connect to smpppd

pppd[0] died: pppd options error (exit code 2)
Pls help me to explain, thanks in advance.
I don’t know if it is due to that Suse 10.1 can not support RTL8111B. Since in WINDOS XP, after I connected my ADSL modem and power it up, I can see “local network connected” signal , of course I can ping through 192.168.1.1 (my ADSL modem IP) or do ADSL setup using IE (http://192.168.1.1). |
