[奇怪]电脑无法安装windows XP[已解决，但不知道原因]

直都是用Gentoo Linux的
突然想用windows XP，但是没法装了！气人！
电脑从光盘启动后
出现setup is inspecting **** hardware configuration  (好像是这个）
然后就黑屏了，没任何反应！没法显示检测的那个蓝色背景
安装windows 2000的时候，可以顺利的安装下来，而且升级到XP也没问题
在升级过程中取消后，再用XP的光盘启动，将提示升级还是全新安装
我选择全新安装后就可以完成XP的安装了。
如果在重新插入Windows XP的光盘，从光盘启动
仍然出现setup is inspecting ****
然后就黑屏了
不知道怎么回事？？
电脑使用上是没有任何问题的，上次就只拔了内存擦了擦而已。
光盘也是没有任何问题的。BIOS也恢复了默认设置，没法解决问题！
还有一个问题就是：原来重装windows系统的时候，GRUB会被覆盖，但是装完windows 2000后，GRUB仍然在。我想这个可能是问题的所在，可能是windows没法覆盖MBR信息，然后就导致黑屏了，不知道是不是这个原因？

曾经尝试过用fdisk /mbr，MBR信息是没有了，但是windows XP还是没法安装。
也google过，linuxfans上说要干掉所有的分区，然后重新分区再来，这样也代价太大了吧！现在的windows XP是通过同学的ghost复制过来的，可是用得很不舒服，大家帮帮忙阿！

对了，还有系统是gentoo 2005.1
用了好长时间了，原来重装是没有问题的，就这次这样，哎!

嘿嘿，我看是xp安装盘的问题，我以前也碰到过：一直用的好好的光盘突然就没办法启动了

不是光盘的问题
光盘可以升级安装的
而且光盘在别人电脑上可以安装的阿

Well this is a very strange problem and I have never saw it again.
Today I tried to install windows xp in my pc and after the screen 'setup is inspecting your hardware...' installation stops but computer is responding.
I've tried to start the installation with out a modificated xp cd (not unattended or sp1 slipstreamed) but the problem still exists.
Tried also windows 2000 & windows 2003 but they work.
Now I have windows 2k3 so that I can write to you.
Please help me.

Could possibly be a memory problem. They tend to make the PC act in such weird ways, but easy to isolate by removing 1 stick if you are currently using 2, or try using a known good stick of memory.

换张别的XP盘试试吧  XP比2003稳定的  我的机器现在装了两个系统 XP和gentoo

除了XP，其他的系统都可以装，换了好多版本的XP，还是没办法 ，Home Pro 都是这个问题

可能是你的grub比较BT，用2000/xp安装光盘进入恢复模式，用fixboot看看能否搞定mbr。再重装GRUB。

我的硬盘不是1024cylinders的，能不能看看大家的硬盘分区是多少柱面的么？
