PHP为什么编译不了?

我用的REDHAT9，装了APACHE1.3.29和MYSQL，在安装PHP的时候总是编译不了,换了很多版本都是在configure的过程中提示
checking lex output file root... ./configure:line 2425:lex :command not found
configure :error :cannot find output from lex; giving up
